What information is needed to book a flight?
The traveler details, trip parameters, and payment info needed to book a flight.
Quick answer
You need each traveler's legal name exactly as on their government ID, date of birth, your origin and destination, travel dates or a flexibility range, and a payment method. Seat, baggage, and frequent-flyer details are optional but speed things up.
Special cases
- Children traveling alone have airline-specific unaccompanied-minor procedures
- International itineraries need passport data — domestic does not
- Group bookings may need names later, but fares can differ
